This darning tutorial is a pre-recorded video workshop on darning knitwear with materials included: learn in your own time, at your own pace.

Suitable for beginners, this workshop will teach you how to darn your knitwear colourfully., and also includes a darning kit for those who would like one. Covering different darning approaches of working from the front and back of the fabric and a couple of patterns, the aim of this darning tutorial is to leave you confident to start repairing your own knitwear in a creative way.

You will also learn about choosing suitable materials for your project, as well as the basic structure of knitted fabrics. Common mistakes are also discussed.

This video workshop has almost 2 hours of pre-recorded instructions, that you can watch, pause, and rewatch as many times as you like. This is the same content that the Introduction to Darning zoom workshop covers, it’s just pre-recorded rather than live.

Have materials sent out to you to practice on before you start on your favourite sweater!

Darning Materials included:

1 square of knitted fabric, 17 x 17cm approx. This is big enough to practice each of the techniques demonstrated in the workshop twice.

1 needle

8 mini skeins of lambswool- colours may vary depending on availability. Approx 4.8m of each colour.

The difference between the live zoom workshop and this pre-recorded workshop:

The live zoom darning tutorial workshop is an hour longer, to take into account people working at different paces, repeating instructions, and discussing individuals’ own projects. Participants are able to ask questions throughout. The recording of the zoom workshop is only available for 6 months.

This pre-recorded darning tutorial workshop does not give you the option to ask questions, although it does cover all questions and issues that come up frequently during the live workshops. You have access to it for life.
